Collaborations

We enter into collaborations with partner biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies that are looking to develop world-leading capabilities in new areas; and where intellectual property can be split for the mutual benefit of all parties concerned. Deal structures in such collaborations are highly flexible, reflecting the unique needs of each of our partners.

As an example of how collaborations can work, much of the core R&D behind our PhenoSight technology platform came from a collaboration with a pharmaceutical company looking to establish world-leading capability in a new area. We collaborated to develop the core science and make it robust; and to develop cost-effective automation solutions for high-throughput, high-content screening. The pharmaceutical company retained all intellectual property for drugs coming out of the work, and a capability to offer a service to other pharmaceutical companies. Ash Biotech retained all the intellectual property relating to automation; including computer software for data analysis.
