The PhenoSight 1000 (pictured above), is our entry-level, precision macroscope. It's designed for use in applications such as assay development, and is compact enough to sit on a scientists bench. At its heart, is an industrial strength machine vision digital camera. Controlled by our proprietary video recording technology, it captures stunning quality digital video at high-frame rates. In the above case, we have configured the macroscope with a unique, super-bright, super wide-field monochromatic light source. This provides for up to thousands of lux at the sample, spread evenly over the entire sample area e.g. a 96-well plate, enabling super-short camera exposure times (that's particularly important if you want to "freeze" a fast-moving sample). At the entry level, the light source is monochromatic as opposed to white light for a good reason: to keep the cost of the optics down. We chose green light, to match the wavelength where the camera has maximum sensitivity. The benefit is a cost saving to you of thousands of pounds, with no compromise on image quality. If you require white-light illumination, models from PhenoSight 3000 upwards provide that. The camera can be moved around the sample on the unique computer-controlled, motorized X-Y stage. We have designed the stage in the PhenoSight 1000, along with all the related motion control electronics, from the ground up for use in light-duty cycle life-science applications such as assay development. You get the precision you need, and the robustness you need, without paying the high price of over-engineering. We use different versions of the X-Y stage, in different models of macroscope to provide for different levels of precision, and different duty-cycles. In the PhenoSight 1000, the benefit to you is more savings of thousands of pounds.
All this enables us to offer you a precision digital video macroscope: including a computer-controlled, motorized X-Y stage; a dual chanel motor contoller and remote control; and a super-bright, super-wide-field light source for a price of £4,999. The PhenoSight 1000 comes bundled with a three-user license for the entry level version of the PhenoSight video analysis software. We think it's a price that's hard to beat – you can easily pay £5,000 just for an X-Y stage. It's perfect for exploring the possibilities for assay development using digital video.
